Questions to ponder: -
1) has your understanding of translation improved?
Answer:-
Yes, my understanding of translation is improved. It proved a very fruitful workshop for me because it opens various ideas about translation. I am able to understand that like a research translation has a systematic and scientific way. It has a bright and more opportunity for a career, we can be part-time as well as full-time translator and besides this, I am able to understand how to translate? What are the important tools? Like Bhadani, sir mentioned that without the help of a dictionary we can not do anything, and except this, I was able to understand intertextuality in any text.
2) can write about translation in terms of metaphors?
Answer: -
Yes, there are several metaphors about translation
Moon (Nature)
The first metaphor I would like to give is Moon. The Moon is the best example of translation. Moon has no his own beauty but it is a translation of the sun’s light. In this same way sometimes translation will result in more beautiful than the original text.
Head of Lord Ganesha (Mythology)
Another Metaphore is the head of lord shiva. With this metaphore, we can say that translators do not set as it is a word but they put some words which are appropriate.
Lord Rama and Navik (epic)
Here Lord Rama as Text, Navis as a Translation, and ‘Charan Shudhdhi’ is translation. In this metaphor, we can see the process of translation. Without the help of a dictionary do not ever do the translation.
We can also give a metaphor like Culter( East and West) ex. Paradise lost. Chess Game and translator is like Ghost. So this kind of metaphors we can give to translation.
3) what according to you in the most difficult aspect of practical translation?
Answer:-
According to me the most difficult aspect of practical translation is to understand the literary meaning of the particular text, paragraph, sentence, or line and then find out the appropriate word or we can say translation which will not change the meaning of the original work.
4) learning outcome from the workshop
Answer:
I have learned so many things from this workshop. Things like knowledge area, the scope for part-time and full-time translation.
If you want to be the translator you have to knowledge about Humanities and Fine arts, Journalism and Mass Media, Commerce, Management, Law, Education, Science, Social Work, Engineering, and Architecture.
Most important think about how to translate anything. Process and importance of dictionary.
Another thing for enhancing our dictionary read some websites and online journals like 1. The Wire, 2. Washington Post. 3. Big Think
