Hello!
I am Nidhi Jethava and today I am going to discuss
about some important aspects of existentialism. It’s my Sunday reading task.
Here are ten short videos to learn the fundamental aspects of Existentialism. It
is very negative and gummy theory.
Thus,
Existentialism believes that individuals are entirely free and must
take personal responsibility for themselves (although with this
responsibility comes angst, a profound anguish or dread). It therefore
emphasizes action, freedom and decision as
fundamental, and holds that the only way to rise above the essentially absurd
condition of humanity (which is characterized by suffering and inevitable
death) is by exercising our personal freedom and choice
Summary of all videos:
Video 1: What is Existentialism?
In the very first video we
came to know about the term existentialism. can apply this term
existentialist to many great thinkers. All of the thinkers’ views differ
from one another in a much profound sense.
Philosophers like Camus argue that by believing in God, you have taken
the easy way to out. One has to fully understand the absurd and has to fully
embrace it. Believing in God is considered philosophical suicide. Existentialism
is mainly popular among young people because it touches on subjects which a
person in his or her youth might be struggling with. There were other subjects
like suicide, anguish, absurdity, passions, emotions, death, freedom,
disparage, etc. So, in this video, there were all these pertinent points which
I found very interesting.
Video 2: The Myth of Sisyphus: The Absurd Reasoning:
In this video we came to know about the philosophy of
suicide with reference of Albert Camus’s theory of Existentialism.
Video 3: The Myth of Sisyphus: the notion of philosophical
suicide:
The third video talks about philosophical suicide, how is
it working in our life and theory of absurdity. Some interesting ideas are
found here like…
Faith In god saves us from absurdity.
Video 4: Dadaism, Nihilism and Existentialism:
This video throws the light on
philosophical moment called Dadaism during first world war. Existentialism urges one to
become who one really is and not to accept what others impose on one.
Similarly, Dadaism is a nihilistic revolt against all bourgeois ideas of
rationality, meaning, form and order.
Video 5: Existentialism- a gloomy philosophy:
Anxiety
Despair
Absurdity
These are the
three aspects of this theory. In this video we came to know that we are only
makes our choice of life. It is narcissistic philosophy.
Video 6: Existentialism and Nihilism: Is it one and
the same?
In this video we found theory of Kierkegaard and
Nietzsche. Also, it throws light on Nihilism and Existentialism. Some of the
interesting images of this video ...
Video 7: Let us
Introduce Existentialism again!
It is very interesting video covering
the whole idea about existentialism. It has brief look at the history of
existentialism.
Video
8: Explain Like I'm Five: Existentialism and Nietzsche:
In this video we found that how to teach kid this very tough philosophy.
Video
9: Why I like Existentialism? Eric Dodson
Here, Eric
Dodson talks about why he like the Existentialism? And here he gives some
points like
a. Combining
mind & heart
b. Honesty &
directness
c. Holism
d. Rebellion.
He also
talks about how Existentialism has affected our everyday life.
At the last
he discusses about top 10 things we can do to live more existentially.
Video 10: Let us sum up: From
Essentialism to Existentialism
This video
is about Essentialism and Existentialism. It was Plato and Aristotle who found
the theory of Essentialism.
Thoughts which I like the most from each video:
Video 1. “Believing
in God you’ve taken the easy way out”
Video 2. “There
is but one truly serious philosophical problem and that is suicide.”
Video 3. “Reason
is useless and there is nothing beyond reason.”
Video 4. “I don’t
want words that other people have invented.”
Video 5. “All
suicides have the responsibility of fighting
against the temptation of suicide, entails rebellion.”
Video 6. “Nihilism means
that highest values devalued themselves”
Video 7. “human, all too
human.”
Video 9. “The universe is
attempting to become conscious of itself… through us…
Video 10. “A certain set of
core properties that are necessary or essential for a thing to be what it is.”
· Video
I like the most and why?
The second video I like the
most because it has something interesting and it has detailed information about
Myth of Sisyphus. Camus being this essay with unusual start:
"There
is but one truly serious philosophical problem, and that is suicide."
-Albert
Camus
In the beginning he talks about the suicide and its
very horrible still very important topic.
In a way all are Sisyphus we are doing what is meaningless
and especially During this pandemic time.
We have no hope everyday lots of people being
victim of covid. So, with this reference I like the most second video.

This idea of
flipped learning is very unique and creative. It enhances my knowledge about
